Hi, Whatcha doin? *grinz

Posted on 2008.09.01 at 17:49
It really has been almost a year since I put one of these up *peaking out from under the desk* so thought I'd write a bit and let ya know what is/has been up around here. My sweet daughter has finished the web site for me and then put it up here... http://DAnnsCreations.itsacoolsite.com What a cool site she has for me, but if I want to use it I have to wait for Dear Heart to finish my laptop. Bought a cool one but it had VISTA the Dreaded on there and you all know how much I Love LINUX a Much Better Operating System. Poor Dear is trying to wipe VISTA but of course, it is embedded in Everything. Linux will be used but it may take awhile to get that mean old Vista out.

The Kids are no longer kids, they have jobs and college and an apartment within walking distance to work. What a life to be young and just starting out *grins* Nah, been there had that fun, now on to bigger and better things, that was the promise of old age, hahahaaaa

My Beautiful Daughter and her Handsome Fiancée have decided to tie the knot on September 11, 2008. WooHoo Congratulations to them both, Love them so much, they have truly been a couple since the first day they met and decided to be together forever. I am so very happy for them!

Life is good, quiet but good *grinz* I hope all is well with you all.
Blessings and good life,

A Tarot test LOL!

You are The Wheel of Fortune

Good fortune and happiness but sometimes a species of
intoxication with success

The Wheel of Fortune is all about big things, luck, change, fortune. Almost always good fortune. You are lucky in all things that you do and happy with the things that come to you. Be careful that success does not go to your head however. Sometimes luck can change.

What Tarot Card are You?
Take the Test to Find Out.

There is so much going on I'm not sure where to start. **BigGrins*** First, I want to say thank-you to all my new friends and for all the favs you gave Mom's ring.

I started a new job on Monday at Hancock Fabric's. It has been over 20 years since I worked a regular job. I have been putting it off because I felt the kids needed me home. Well, in the last year I've found that I'm not all that needed now that they are all older. LOL! This is a really good thing as I've kinda become a couch potato. *yikes* My doctor's have been worried about every little thing, I've been given all the warnings. After working 5 hours on Monday, 4 on Tuesday and 4 on Wednesday, I'm not as weak as they thought! Humf I think I've lost weight just getting up off that couch! LMAO To tell the truth 18 years ago I topped off at 475 lbs. It took forever just to loose that first 200 lbs, 18 years to be exact, now I have another small person of 100 – 120 lbs left to get to the weight my doctor's say is necessary. Then maybe I can stop being a diabetic? Nah, that doesn't happen that easily! But all the other silly stuff will get so much better and that is my goal. Enough of that... now on to the job.... LOL! LOL!

My first day was so exhilarating constantly out of breathe, I felt like a deer caught in the headlights whenever someone asked me a question. LOL! I knew the answers but they just couldn't make it from my "brain" to my mouth. Now as you can obviously see, I have no problem talking, but there I was ... When I got home I couldn't stop laughing for a half hour, laughter at the giddiness and newness of it all. Do you know how many calories you can burn in 5 minutes of laughter? Neither do I, but I needed some kind of a release. LOL! I had a blast all in all. You all know about my parents being teachers, Mom in Home Ec and Dad a Principal, I guess teaching/answering questions is pure enjoyment in so many ways, for me. ***rubbing hands together in pure pleasure*** I loved it, but man were my feet complaining, my son brought out this foot contraption that vibrated all the pain away. HA Second day was better, still a deer caught in headlights, but once in awhile I actually knew where things could be found. Wednesday morning I was called in early by the store manager, she was going to be alone early in the morning as a few people had called in sick. So she thought of me... how cool to be needed! LMAO I do know better, I'm really not that naive, I was the only one left, but I like the previous version better! HA HA I moved things around all morning, cut fabric and helped customers. Thank heavens for that foot massager! LOL! Friday I taught a bracelet making class, cut, put away fabric, worked till closing. Foot massager here I come! Saturday was the most difficult day as there were a Lot of customers and I've gotten into the habit of putting the fabric away asap after the bolt has been cut. Constantly moving helps with loosing those nasty old calories, but the footsies pay a heavy price... (too many puns??? LOL! ) So here it is Sunday of the coming week and I have a similar schedule. When I applied for this job, it was only to be 2 or 3 days a week, no more than 2 to 3 hours. That's what the young lady I talked to had said. I thought she was the manager and they had LOTS of people therefore I would be lucky to be hired. After a week of 5 working days, averaging at least 4 or more hours a day, I realized that you work as long as you work. Simple hunh??? Yep, when you feel good about yourself as well as those around you, keep a positive attitude, well, things work out better than you ever thought. Hhuuumm Someday I may just run that place! ROTF Oh you have to stop me... I am running at the mouth!! HA HA HA HA

I have to say that I have really enjoyed taking care of my kids by staying home. We were, all of us, very fortunate to have that time together. When they were little I was constantly teaching different art projects at the schools as their art program fundings slipped further and further away. I am forever saddened by how much has been lost to this coming generation of students. They may never know the pleasures of band, orchestra, choir, arts and crafts, poetry, ceramics, wood shop, auto shop, and especially Home Ec ... Whenever you have time, go into your neighborhood School District and volunteer to teach your art, you will be surprised at the feeling of accomplishment you will give to our kids as well as yourself! I may be a bit strange, but I Know that if everyone could just reach out and compassionately Help their neighbor, old folks homes, schools, even at the Hospitals, all of our lives would be better, if only for that moment. I don't care what religion/god you believe in, just look around, would it really be all that much fun if we were all the same? Diversity and common sense is what makes us all Family. LOL! People are people everywhere, each different in their own special ways. There seems to be no more tolerance nor patience for our fellows and that is sad! Here, at such a wonderful place for Artists we all make a difference with our art by showing the world that we can work together to build a better place for all of us. We show our hearts daily, our loves and our pains. My Blessings go out to you all. I am on the side of love, happiness and the dreams of the young to have a wonderful life. May it happen in our lifetimes! ***Huggs***

I guess you can tell I am a bit talkative today! HA HA HA Now go out and save the world! WOOHOO
Hope everyone had a Fantastic Thanksgiving! Peace to each of us soon!

Blessings and love to all,
Pegs

Shingles and this and that

Posted on 2006.10.13 at 00:59
I've had a Horrible thing called Shingles. Some of you have already experienced it, others, well look out, growing old is not for the faint of heart! LOL! Actually lots of good things come as you grow older but you do have to take the bad with the good. At the end of June I came down with a bit of a cold which seemed to last forever, making my immune system a bit weak. By the beginning of September my face had these strange, what I thought, mosquito bites right above my right eye. As time passed I became aware of a swelling, by the time my eye was swollen shut (had some interesting questions to answer, like, did you run into a wall? LOL! ) I decided to go see my doctor. He told me it was Shingles. I was surprised because I remember Mom having Shingles. It was around her waist. It seems wherever you had chickenpox as a child, if your immune system goes down as an adult, that is where Shingles MAY begin. Now isn't that special? ROTFSWL The spots came and went with not that much pain until the swelling hit my mouth then all He** broke loose. Have you ever been in so much pain you wish you could end it by anyway possible? I came real close to being there, that is until I learned of this wonder drug called Hydrocodone .5 ummmm heavenly! ROTF It took a bit more than expected the first few days, just to touch the pain, actually 3 plus an 800mg Ibuprofen. I had waited 5 days before going to my doctor, then 8 days later the pain had eased enough to stop those delicious pain pills. Back to normal pain and ibuprofen heheheheeee At first I thought it was a very bad tooth ache when it hit my mouth, but Nooooo it had to be Shingles! The good thing (must find good in all that you do and feel) is I've lost over 25 pounds. There were three stages, first spots and swelling, then extreme pain, and now recuperation. It has been a six week process from start to end. Have to be patient because I am still very weak, with standing and walking through my dizziness. Course I have always been dizzy! HA! For those young ones out there (under 40 *grins* ) understand that not everyone gets this, I just don't want you to be surprised like I was! Mom hid her pain so well I had no idea, course she was in a hospital when it was at it's worse and we weren't allowed in there so we never saw what she went through. Sometimes children need to know what is possible as they grow up. If you constantly hide things from them, when something like this happens the fear is immense. This was really no big deal, there are worse things out there for us all to experience. After all it was only 13 days of fixable pain, there are worse things, so if it ever happens to you, just know that “this too shall pass!” If only other sicknesses could be so easily fixed. *~*sigh*~* Enough of this silliness....

Now, take a look at what I traded for... two boxes arrived while I was bedridden and sure did help to cheer me up! Also received a very special letter from a very dear new friend Gwinny at http://PinkMonkeyLove.deviantart.com , from Exeter in Devon. I am so ashamed to be an American and not even know where in Britain that is. I have a Mother-in-law who lives in Vienna, Austria. She has been wanting us to come see her for so long. I wanted to add an extra bedroom to our house so she could come here, but lately with the way of the world, we may just go there! That way I could meet all my new friends in Europe! WooHoo LOL! It would be fun to travel back and forth between here and there, but that means Money, not the kind I make! *sigh* I have always had a bit of envy for my friends who could travel at any time. I've become such a Hermit. I love my house, the first one we've been able to buy on our own, since we have known each other. It has been thirty wonderful years together with all the ups and downs of every other relationship. You should give it a go, it is a lot of work on both sides. *grins*

Look at what http://UniquelyYours.deviantart.com sent me in trade for my 3-strand Dominic's Dragons necklace. She chose such beautiful pieces to send, don't you think? *huggs*
http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/41296681/

And look at what http://Ignisburns.deviantart.com sent for my Mother of Pearl Fantasy Bracelet, I love her wire wrapping art! *huggs* So delicate and fragile, see for yourself!
http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/41297068/ sorry about the fuzziness... I took a dozen photos and none of them looked very good so I settled for this one! *grins*

A few words about the latest world events... I am saddened by all the deaths caused by the wars and the reaction of our President. People are people everywhere, each different in their own special ways. There seems to be no more tolerance nor patience for our fellows and that is even worse! I am one who believes the world will work out it's differences if it is allowed to survive Mr. Bush and all his big business cronies! Sad, too, that Big business has successfully taken over with the little guy pushed to the back of the bus, so to speak! Here, at such a wonderful place for Artists we all make a difference with our art by showing the world that we can work together to build a better place for all of us. We show our hearts daily, our loves and our pains. My Blessings go out to all of those affected by these events. I am on the side of love, happiness and the dreams of the young to have a wonderful life. May it happen in our lifetimes! *huggs*

I guess you can tell I am a bit talkative today! ROTF I hope you enjoyed my comedy of pain, and all. Now go out and save the world! WOOHOO

Blessings and love to all,
Pegs

Mom's Ring and contests

Posted on 2006.07.20 at 13:05
Just recently I was given an ODD showing for my velvet suit at deviantart.com that was an interesting honor. [Suit] I am sending it off today so Maralily can try it out and see how far off I am! LOL!

I joined two clubs, the artists at etsy and ArtistanCraft which has contests for the deviantart community. I thought I would put one of these pictures in the contest, or maybe I should try it again? ;p

Birthday

Posted on 2006.06.26 at 20:41
I'm 49 today. Wow, I really made it... quick... knock on wood... knocking 3 times on noggin... okay that's better! Heheheheee
I finished my friend's outfit this weekend and then had all the wind blown out of my sails when Dear daughter informed me that the neckline was wrong, the belt isn't an elastic tie and needs to be black velvet, and the sleeves are completely wrong! I checked the drawings ***hanging head down** she was right... I'm a bad, bad girl....
So today I am working on the remodeling of the top!
Still looking for a box that will work with the kiln. I'm about ready to saran it the way it arrived here. LOL! I could leave the handles showing so someone could easily lift it and there would be no added weight from the box (have to support the bottom so the box will stay together) didn't realize there was more to shipping a kiln than expected. i think I will talk to the firemen in our area as they come and go between here and New Orleans, maybe they could deliver it. That may be asking too much, but you never know until you ask the question!
Need to get back to my sewing. No new pictures today, if I still have daylight after I finish I will try to add pictures of the outfit I am working on.
Have a Great week!

Kiln

Posted on 2006.06.19 at 17:10
Here's the pictures I promised of my kiln. The red dust is from pulling the tarp off quickly and the dust settling everywhere! LOL! It needs a real good dusting off as well as a cleaning on all the screws, and metal pieces.

Day after the Devil's Day

Posted on 2006.06.07 at 12:56
Wow there sure were a lot of shows on yesterday of 6/6/6. How hilarious that Christians believe in him. Not my cup of tea though. Its Ying and Yang, good and evil, right and wrong... there can not be one without the other, that's where the balance comes from. Your heart holds the key, each person must make a choice and stay with it, no matter what. I take the hard road, good over evil, positive over negative, easy decision for me, but very difficult to stay on. You must be dilligent at all times, positive thinking is hard.

Okay enough of the preaching, let's see if there is another picture I can show you...

First Friday with Etsy

Posted on 2006.06.06 at 18:05
Wow, what an experience. I went to an art walk this past friday. It was Hot but with a cool breeze starting up, which ended up becoming a dust storm. LOL! What a riot, just as you get settled in, the wind blows you away! Did this with other Ladies from Etsy who live in this area. That was very enjoyable, actually met someone from the net! Yes, I have been Very cautious and that will not end, some rules are supposed to be bent, though... LOL!

Back to last Friday... I met Minerva from minervaorduno.etsy.com and Susie from moxierings.etsy.com Minerva is an aspiring Architect, others must think so as well, as she is working for a company here. Susie is a Graphics Artist who is making a living at it, so she must also be very good! Their jewelry preparation was fantastic, I learned a Lot! They were a lot of Fun getting to know and if they called again, I would join them in a flash! Now let's see if I can upload a picture or two here....

Oh, I did it! )

Dominic's Dragons

Posted on 2006.05.30 at 14:07
These three are dedicated to the imagination of my son. We are soo proud of him for graduating from High School even though the odds were against him. He wasn't the first to put dragons with a crystal ball (it is a large variegated Agate) but he wanted variety and in selecting the amethyst chips, raw turquoise chips and even firecracker red bugle beads with all kinds of beautiful Agates, tourmaline, crystals and stones he got exactly what he desired. I can do special orders for this if you have a particular color you need. That is the fun of Dominic's Dragons... originality!
